Leigh Kline
College and Career Coaching
Leigh's Story
I started college with big dreams of becoming a politician—I was excited by the idea of making a real impact. But after one semester, I needed a new plan. It turns out political science wasn’t for me, but psychology fascinated me. I read my psychology textbook for fun—when I should have been studying for my political science class!

Changing my major didn’t mean I had it all figured out. Like most people, my journey took unexpected twists and turns. Over time, I realized my true passion: helping others navigate career and life decisions with confidence. I do this by fostering self-reflection, curiosity, and effective communication—skills that empower people to take control of their futures.
How I Got Here
My career began in 2012 after earning my Master's in Counseling. I started as an Advisor at Mercy University, where I guided students on course selection, financial aid policies, and career planning. This role confirmed my passion for guiding students through their academic and career journeys.

In 2014, I moved to Gainesville, Florida, to become an Academic Advisor and Career Coach for undergraduate business students at the University of Florida. During this time, I refined my coaching skills and earned my Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) credential. In 2016, I was honored to receive the Advisor of the Year Award at the University.

In 2017, I continued my work at UNC Wilmington, advising business students for five years. It was a privilege to be named a "person of impact" by graduating seniors every year.

In 2022, I followed my passion for career counseling and transitioned into a Career Coach role in the Cameron School of Business. I love helping students identify their career interests, set goals, improve their resumes, and land jobs.
Alongside my full-time role at UNC Wilmington, I also run a private coaching business. I help college applicants explore their interests, refine their academic aspirations, and communicate their unique strengths in applications. For career coaching clients, the process is similar. By focusing on self-awareness, goal setting, and communication skills, I empower individuals to build confidence, achieve goals, and find career satisfaction.

I am committed to helping you take control of your own success. With my counseling background and years of experience guiding students, I bring a unique approach to college and career coaching that helps you move forward with confidence.
